Snorkeling in Marsa Alam area of the Red Sea

The Marsa Alam area is astonishing when it comes to experiencing the underwater world!.I have been coming regularly to the Red Sea for the past decade.and most admit that the Marsa Alam area is my favorite – especially Abu Dabbab bay – it is everything you can dream of. In the middle of the bay is a large seagrass area where large Green Turtles are feeding – guaranteed! And if you are lucky – the Dugong will pass by. Otherwise you can enjoy the  reef both north and south of the bay and see both shallow and sheltered parts as well as more exposed parts of the coral reef. The reef is as nice in many of the other bays in the Marsa Alam area. But no other place has as many turtles as Abu Dabbab.

If you are in the Marsa Alam area, and haven’t seen Green turtles – then plan for a day-trip to Abu Dabbab. You have also other nice options for trips – both by car to other bays or by boat, to reefs out from the coast.

Do you want to know how to select a hotel with a beautiful house reef? See this previous post with examples. You can prepare this at home.

The Marsa Alam area is still a fairly untouched jewel of the colorful coral reefs of the Red Sea.

The Marsa Alam area is top class for snorkeling - enjoy!
